Emilia Clarke Turns Down ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ For The Most Feminist Reason

The Brit actress Emilia Clarke has turned down a major film role to continue playing Daenerys in the, now legendary, TV series. And we reckon you might have heard of it – a little film called Fifty Shades Of Grey .

Clarke opened up about turning down the opportunity to play Anastasia Steele in the infamous film trilogy.

She explained that she didn’t want to take on a role with so much nudity in again. As any GOT fan will know, Clarke’s character, Daenerys Targaryen closed season 1 in a dramatic scene where she emerged naked from flames, flanked by her newly born dragons.

The last time she was naked on camera on GOT was a long time ago, and yet it is the only question that she ever gets asked because She is a woman.

‘And it’s annoying as hell and I’m sick and tired of it because I did it for the character – I didn’t do it so some guy could check out my t*ts, for God’s sake.’

Clarke continued on to discuss her understandable worries about her on-screen nudity leading to being typecast because of the fact that she’s a woman:

‘So, that coming up, I was like, “I can’t.” I did a minimal amount and I’m pigeonholed for life, so me saying yes to that, where the entire thing is about sensuality and sex and being naked and all of that stuff,’ she said.
